1. If you are working on widening project you need to necessarily have two alignments which indicate the road ends of existing road on either side. Let us say you have mentioned it as “LRE” (i.e., Left Road End) and “RRE” (i.e., Right Road end). You have to mention these remarks in Left remark and the Right remark text box.
2. Now ESurvey CADD will understand that from remark “LRE” to remark “RRE” represents the existing road which should not be further modified and will be considered for profile correction. It may be noted that these remark lines (Existing road edges) are to be imported as alignments in the horizontal tab with their names defined as “LRE” and “RRE” in this case.
3. In this example project if you decide that a Profile corrective course has to start from DBM, then you have to keep values “Carriage Way” for “Start From” Column for BC and DBM. All other layers below DBM i.e., below PCC layers to be marked with a value “Remark”. This makes the software understand that the cutting of the full pavement layers is needed, where ever value “remark” is mentioned. In our project “LRE” and “RRE” are the remarks.
4. After making the changes in “Design Layers” window, if you visit the cross sections you will come to know that software has clearly designed the cross sections with strengthening option, ie.. the provision of profile corrective course is applied. All other items like applying Super Elevation and Widening Variable, Applying the formation level of alignment, Extraction of quantities remain same even for widening project.
