Gradient or Slope Representation in Various Infrastructure Projects

The Slope of the line represents the rate of change of Y relative to X, if the slope is 2, then y is changing twice in length of x; if the slope is 1/2, then y is changing half in comparison to length of x.

In various infrastructure projects the same slope is represented in different ways and in this technical documentation all these methods are described.

Sometimes slope or gradient is expressed as 1 in X. here 1 indicates that these many units are measured vertically and “X” units are measured horizontally.
