Contour Software Help - Draw LS for Alignment on Contour Map

Using contour module we can easily draw section profile within the CAD drawing and export the section data to excel.

It involves 3 steps.
  1. Setting the section parameters
  2. Creating the section (Profile)
  3. Exporting the data to excel
1. Setting the Section parameters:
To draw a section line select 'Section Setting(DSS)' option from 'ESurvey CADD' menu under 'Draw Section' sub menu

Set the horizontal scale, vertical scale, footer prefix, footer suffix, a caption for section data reference, select the projection line and set the datum precision.

You may create the alignment just by drawing a pline on the CAD drawing. Please note that all the elevations should be stored in the layer named 'ELEV'.

2. Creating the section (Profile):
To draw a section line select 'Draw Section(DRS)' option from 'ESurvey CADD' menu under 'Draw Section' sub menu

Type the interval at which you need to interpolate the value for section generation, closer the interval you will get the accurate profile. Also, the program will ask you Change Points to be Included ? Y / N.Select Yes if you require elevations to be interpolated at the end point of each polyline segment.

Now select the polyline representing the alignment. The program will prompt to click a point for placing the section in the drawing, using all these interpolated levels a section would be created as per the settings you have done in step 1.

Note: All the values will be interpolated along the alignment at a specified interval and the interpolated values will be created on a layer called 'Layer 1'. If the alignment is outside the boundary then also levels are interpolated which may not be mathematically accurate and hence such levels are created in 'Layer 2'.

3. Exporting the data to excel:
If required, these section levels can be exported to excel using option export section levels to excel from an ESurvey CADD menu.
