Apply Formation Level for All CS in the Project - Help


How to assign formation level to cross section?
Applying formation level can be done in 6 different ways in ESurvey CADD.

    a. Preview window
    b. Enter the formation level for each cross section at once
    c. Derive formation levels quickly from existing ground level
    d. Importing data from excel
    e. Importing data from CAD
    f. Edit the formation levels graphically on design formation screen

a. Preview window

In 'Preview' screen you can select a cross section, then select the required CS Template or Assembly from the drop down and then enter the formation level and click on ‘A’ (apply) button.

b. Enter the formation level for each cross section at once

In ‘Apply CS Template’ window you can manually enter formation level for each cross section by referring to the ground level of each cross section.

c. Derive formation levels quickly from existing ground level

In ‘Apply CS Template’ window you can click on ‘Fill Final’ button and derive the formation level based on existing ground level. You can

  1. Add or deduct a fixed value from ground level and create formation levels.
  2. You can apply a minimum value among the cross setting levels as the formation level.
  3. You can apply a maximum value among the cross section levels at the formation level.
  4. You can give a fixed formation level for all the cross sections

d. Importing data from Excel

In ‘Apply CS Template’ window, click on 'Export' button, all the cross section numbers will get exported. Enter the formation level for each cross section and save the Excel file. Then you can import that data by clicking on 'Import' button.

e. Importing data from CAD

1. You can select ‘LS’ tab and view the Longitudinal Section in a preview window, export the same to CAD Package by clicking on ‘CAD’ button.

2. Now you can draw formation level in CAD Package using Polyline command. After drawing the LS you can export it back to ESurvey CADD through LSEXP command. ‘LSEXP’ command will ask the drawing Scale as input . Normally LS gets created with Horizontal scale 1000 and vertical scale 100. You need to specify scale factors, datum, Starting section value of the L Section and the base point of Longitudinal Section drawing to find and export the levels from the polyline drawn to represent the formation level.

3. Select ‘Design Formation’ option from ‘CS Template / Assembly’ menu.

4. Click on ‘Imp CAD’ button to import the formation level defined in AutoCAD. If required, you can edit the imported formation line by changing the values in the grid or by graphically changing the formation level after clicking on ‘Edit’ button.  Click on ‘Update’ button

5. Now, formation level of each cross section depending on the line you have imported from CAD is updated as formation level

f. Edit the formation levels graphically on Design Formation Screen

1. Select ‘Design Formation’ option from ‘CS Template / Assembly’ menu

2. You can add multiple points defining formation level by specifying distance and level. Depending on the definition, a line gets created in the ‘Design Formation’ window. You can click on the 'Edit’ button and adjust the formation level as per the project requirement. Once the formation level is finalised, click on ‘Update’ button which will derive the formation level for each cross section and update formation level to apply cross section template or assembly.
